The infotel Informer is the first digital on hold system in the world to use Compact Flash technology for audio storage. When connected to a PBX phone system, the infotel Informer plays a pre-recorded message loop to callers on hold, in order to keep them informed or entertained. It is an efficient and cost effective tool to turn dull and wasted hold time into pleasant and valuable commercial time for almost all companies and organizations.

Most digital on hold systems currently on the market use either a cassette player or a CD player to download the audio into the system. This scheme has two obvious flaws. Firstly, the cassette/CD player has mechanical moving parts and is likely to cause problems sooner or later. Secondly, the audio must be re-digitized inside the on hold system before it can be saved into the memory. This re-digitization process often causes additional distortions and background noises, resulting in less than perfect sound quality.
Being a second generation on hold system, the infotel Informer is specifically designed to be without the flaws mentioned above. Sound files created digitally in a recording studio can be copied directly onto a tiny, little Compact Flash card without the need for any conversion or re-digitization. Therefore, the sound quality is preserved 100% as compared to the original. At the user site, the Compact Flash card is simply inserted into the infotel Informer and the unit is ready to operate. No downloading is needed since the card is the memory itself.
The infotel Informer is directly compatible with the industrial standard Windows .wav file format, which means that virtually any PC can be used to create and edit the sound file. A Compact Flash card reader is used to copy one or more sound files to the card, and a particular file can be selected by pressing a button on the unit. Many digital cameras commonly use the Compact Flash cards. They come in many different capacities and are readily available at low cost.
